Sometimes opportunities present themselves with an incredibly tight deadline, and the only choice is to move fast and deliver!
That’s exactly what happened when Michelle received a call from the Fresh Food Editor at The Grocer, asking if our client, Fairfax Meadow, would give a statement on the current covid-19 situation.
Fairfax Meadow is the UK’s largest catering butcher, with over 40 years’ experience supplying the hospitality sector. The current coronavirus pandemic has thrown many challenges at their business, and as their outsourced Head of Marketing, Michelle Dalley, spoke with Penny Tomlinson, the MD of Fairfax Meadow, to discuss the information The Grocer wanted. We turned all the information around within an hour which meant we hit the deadline for the inclusion in the mid day news update, and were included in the print version, as shown.
The featured article was very positive, but also demonstrated the challenging situation the meat and foodservice sector faces.

As part of the article, The Grocer were particularly interested in how Fairfax had delivered a DTC (Direct to Consumer) home delivery solution, from scratch, which we at Umami had mobilised. The DTC campaign has it’s own sub brand – Fairfax Meadow, Fresh Meat to your Door, and a stand alone website where you can order online for home delivery, to support the launch we have a fully integrated marketing campaign, including social media, email marketing, pr and more. Let’s say, we’ve been busy!
