Things you may not know about Michelle...

Q: Favourite Food?
A: This is difficult. If it were the only thing I could ever eat it would probably be toast and salty butter. Also on the list is smoked Haddock risotto, pan fried Turbot, Vacherin Cheese...

Q: Most awesome restaurant?
A: The Wolseley – many special occasions celebrated there. Always fabulous, always memorable.

Q: Creative inspiration?
A: Taste of London – so many great brands and fantastic food. Food and drink trade shows are great to understand industry trends. My favourite local venue is Gloucester Services, a great place to see the challenger brands coming through (and they serve a terrific flat white!).

Q: I will never eat...
A: Liver (eeewww)

Q: Fantasy dinner party guests?
A: Frank Sinatra, Gordon Ramsey, Caitlin Moran, Leonardo DiCaprio, Quentin Tarantino, George Michael, Steve Jobs, Henry VIII, Claudia Winkleman, Tom Hardy, Jess Phillips (Labour MP), Elizabeth Taylor, Dominic West

“As a business owner, it is vital that any Marketing or social media activity is viewed and seen with the attention to detail as if you’re doing it in-house… often out sourcing or working with a third party presents more issues and problems than supporting the business.
I have to say that since starting work with the team at Umami Design for Food, they have almost become part of our business internally. They have taken the time to understand our needs, giving me not only peace of mind, but new ideas and benefits to our marketing profile.

I wouldn’t hesitate in putting my name to their work and I’m sure we will continue to grow our businesses together.”
Gary Apps – Managing Director at My Fish Company

“For anyone or any business looking for a professional, creative external resource, then look no further than Michelle Dalley at UMAMI. The big difference against other companies I have used is, they 'LISTEN' and once they understand your business strategy, their commitment to work closely with you and to deliver on your expectations is paramount.

As we continue to build our business, I'm confident and reassured that we have the right specialist partner to help drive the marketing & branding of our business.”

Call for action

The first thing you need to know about Michelle is she eats, sleeps and drinks food. If that's your thing too, you should definitely connect.

Over nine years Michelle has successfully transferred a hugely successful fifteen year foodservice career managing multi £million accounts into a thriving food and drink creative branding business, called Umami Design for Food. Umami is the fifth sense of taste - sweet, sour, salty, bitter and then umami. Umami is often defined as "deliciousness", that little bit extra that delivers the wow factor, and that's what we like to do for our clients.

Michelle is well known for quickly building rapport and understanding with operational and senior level clients, to really uncover what they're good at, what they need to do next and then work with them to make it happen.

Strategically, this might be through running internal surveys and brand workshops, designing and delivering key customer feedback, taking the insights to produce powerful new marketing positioning, implementing campaigns, being the brand custodian for national foodservice clients and working on the tactical day to day. Supported by a highly experienced creative design team and strong admin function, as a team our focus is to deliver clear results for clients.

Our clients enjoy this approach to their business and through their testimonials have endorsed our understanding and approach.

Buy Michelle a great coffee, or meet her at Gloucester Services, and we can talk about your challenges and how we can help.

Reminder: Michelle loves to talk food. Get in touch to start the conversation.
