We could not resist creating our own Bill, after all we do love social media! As you can see Bill has great sense and spoke to us about his design and marketing needs. You see, we know a thing or two about helping food and drink clients stand out in their market.  We are working with clients in the food industry just like you,  to create outstanding logos, packaging design, branding, websites, social media and marketing strategies. So, if you are in the food industry and you need help with your design and marketing pick up the phone and call the office,...
5 Food Trends to Look Out for in 2015 5 Food Trends to Look Out for in 2015
06/01/2015
Here’s a little snippet from our blog from early January predicting 2014’s food trends: ‘Of course Street Food is still trendy, as we spotted at the Restaurant Show, as is the upscale junk food we have blogged about previously, but trends set to rise in 2014 include more locally sourced ingredients, more ‘mashup’ dishes such as 2013s Cronut, the rise of tea, artisan pizza and even Umami! Social dining is set to rise as well, seeing more restaurants and cafes with large, shared bench tables and dining bars.’ Didn’t we do well? All of these did seem to come to fruition through the year, as well as the...

Looking Forward to 2014 Food Trends and New Work! Looking Forward to 2014 Food Trends and New Work!
07/01/2014
So 2013 saw Umami’s first whole year in business – and what a year! We have built a fantastic relationship with Tate & Lyle Sugars – designing their foodservice website www.sugarandsyrup.com and working on the brochure to go with this – still underway. We were also shortlisted for a Monmouthshire Business Award in Excellence in Marketing, though lost out to worthy competition Hicks Logistics (But there’s always 2014 to try again!). We have carried out some fantastic Direct Marketing campaigns to spread the word about the new business, and secured promising meetings with national and internationally recognised food brands. We also helped some smaller local food & drink businesses, including a logo and packaging...
Review - The Beer Emporium, Bristol Review - The Beer Emporium, Bristol
13/12/2013
The Beer Emporium, Bristol – Visited 11/12/13 Wednesday night saw me enjoying a lovely festive night out in Bristol with family. Four of us set out, with no end destination or set plan in mind. We started the night by meeting in The Ostrich in Redcliffe, with a vague idea we might be able to have some food there (some of us had eaten before an fully recommend the Sunday roast!) – however they were out of draught beer, my fathers drink of choice, so decided to move on out into the crisp December night to find somewhere different. A meander along...
Apples, Sustainability and local business on Radio 4! Apples, Sustainability and local business on Radio 4!
25/10/2013
Today we heard that a fantastic local farm & farm shop, Hanley Farm Shop, have been featured on Radio 4’s Farming Today programme. They are talking all about the organic label, and whether it does more harm than good. Listen to it on Radio 4’s iPlayer . It’s great to hear a local company get a national spotlight – especially one that is linked so closely with many things we’re passionate about at Umami, like great food, local issues and sustainability. Hanley Farm Shop is a fantastic local shop, selling beautiful products from a converted barn on Tidenham Chase (a great road with stunning views...

You might have noticed that at the moment Britain isn’t exactly feeling like it’s normal gloomy self. We’re in the middle of a scorching heatwave, seasides are full to bursting and toursist locations across the country are thriving. How about the sport front – just after the comedown from the 2012 Olympics, we’re still winning any and every sport going – with triumphs for Andy Murray at Wimbledon, Chris Froome at the Tour de France, the British Lions, England at the Ashes. Royalists are on a buzz from the Royal Baby Fever, and everyone is just generally happy. This is having...
5 Tips for Top Summer Picnics 5 Tips for Top Summer Picnics
06/06/2013
What is lovelier on a sunny day than packing some food up, and disappearing off into the woods and fields for a wander and a summer picnic? I have so many fantastic memories of going off adventuring with a hamper or cooler full of goodies. From early childhood with my family, right through to my teenage wanders with friends. The picnicking hobby reached a whole new level last year, my first summer with my gorgeous Morris Traveller, perfect kitsch picnic companion. Now that the weather seems to be finally brightening up for the summer I am looking forward to a whole new...
Wild Garlic carpets in Monmouthshire Wild Garlic carpets in Monmouthshire
31/05/2013
I can still remember walking in the woods with my husband and our weimaraner Dragon just before we moved to Monmouthshire.  The woods were somewhere between Chepstow and Usk, lush green, stream flowing through it, perfect country walk. There was a smell, really powerful in the dewy morning and I could not believe that it smelt just like garlic. Everywhere. Wild garlic is a wonderful thing, like a carpet in the forest, really pretty and found around the bluebells.  It has pretty white flowers but the key part for cooking is the green leaves, you can use the flowers but really...
Innocent's perfect International Women's Day post Innocent's perfect International Women's Day post
08/03/2016
Here at Umami we love the quirky, individual brand and marketing approach of innocent drinks. One of Michelle’s favourite books about business and marketing is ‘Our Story and Some Things We've Learned’ by the innocent founders. That’s why, when we saw this post on International Women’s Day it made total sense. An irreverent, sarcastic and silly response with a more serious message behind it – it perfectly reflects innocent’s strong ethical stance and fun, quirky communications.   (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3";...
